Because Valentine’s Day falls on Ash Wednesday this year, we will be celebrating Fat Tuesday AND Valentine’s Day tomorrow (Feb. 13). Students will be in uniform, but they can wear red or pink Valentine socks or jewelry AND/OR wear Mardi Gras beads. Wednesday, we will be celebrating Ash Wednesday at our 8:30am school mass, and students will be receiving ashes. Families are always welcome to join us for our school masses. All students must be in school uniform for the mass day, as usual. Ash Wednesday masses will be at 8:30am, 12:15pm, and 7pm. Ash Wednesday is a day of fast and abstinence for Catholics from ages 14-59. Fasting means that a person can have two small meals and a 3rd larger meal for the day (The two small meals when combined should not be larger than the 3rd larger meal). Abstinence means that we abstain from eating meat. No meat will be served in the cafeteria on Ash Wednesday and Fridays during Lent.
