Technology has been an important part of St. Mary’s offerings since our first shipment of Apple IIe computers over 25 years ago. St. Mary’s consistently maintains high ratio of computers to students so no student ever has to wait to get computer time. We recently upgraded our network infrastructure to accommodate a one to one initiative in order to be prepared for this quickly evolving trend toward one device per student .
Our staff is well trained and they incorporate technology in to all their daily lessons. All of our classrooms are equipped with projectors, interactive whiteboards and several devices for student use including iPads, Chromebooks and Microsoft PCs.
After successfully piloting an online math curriculum last year we have retired our sixth and seventh grade math books and replaced them with a classroom set of laptops.
We offer after school robotics club and successfully compete in area competitions. This year we will be expanding our after school Tech Explorers club for grades three and four. Tech Explorers give the students more time to immerse themselves in areas of technology such as 3d printing, coding and graphics that are too time consuming to maximize during a normal school day.
We offer enrichment classes in technology two days a week for our middle school students where they have the freedom to explore their technology passions from 3d printing to coding, web development, computer networking, digital arts or advanced usage of Microsoft Office.
